An attempted act of sabotage took place in Germany near Brandenburg's largest power plant
In the state of Brandenburg, unknown individuals attempted to damage the Turnov/Prailak substation near the Jentschwalde lignite-fired power plant. The perpetrators’ goal was to cause a large-scale power outage at the region’s largest power plant, with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts.
Homemade explosive and incendiary devices, as well as launchers, were found at the scene. As a result of several strikes, the 50Hertz grid operator temporarily recorded damage to power lines and a brief interruption in the power supply; however, all lines are currently operating normally, and the public did not experience any effects from the incident.
Law enforcement officials and the grid operator have urged citizens to remain particularly vigilant. The investigation into the circumstances of the incident has been handed over to the Brandenburg State Criminal Police Office.
