Princess Astrid, the sister of the late King Harald, died in Norway on September 11. The Royal House announced her death.

Astrid died two weeks after her younger brother, King Harald, who passed away on August 28. Shortly before his death, the princess arrived at Oslo Cathedral in a wheelchair to say goodbye to her brother before the funeral ceremony.
Princess Astrid played an important role in the life of the Norwegian royal family for decades. After the death of her mother, Crown Princess Martha, in 1954, the 22-year-old Astrid effectively assumed the duties of Norway’s first lady.
She devoted particular attention in her work to supporting the most vulnerable groups in society and their integration into society.
The Royal House emphasized that throughout her life, Astrid faithfully represented the royal family. They also noted that her death is a great loss for the family.
