In Pakistan, PTI leader Qaiser criticized Maryam Nawaz’s statement
In Swabi, Pakistan, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser criticized Punjab provincial government head Maryam Nawaz over her statement about a threat coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rather than India. He called her remarks irresponsible, Dawn reports.
Criticism of Maryam Nawaz’s statement
Speaking at a gathering, Qaiser said that residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had made significant sacrifices in the war on terrorism. According to him, the authorities did not properly honor these sacrifices.
The politician also claimed that misguided policies had created conditions for the emergence of suicide bombers, while the province’s population still feels the consequences of the war on terrorism. Qaiser linked the spread of violence in the region to the decisions of General Zia-ul-Haq, including the declaration of jihad and the introduction of the so-called Kalashnikov culture.

Economy and PTI demands
Qaiser said there are limited opportunities for employment and doing business in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to him, this forces even people with small amounts of capital to leave the province. He added that a significant part of the region’s trade depends on Afghanistan, and the closure of the Afghan border has worsened the economic difficulties of local residents.
The PTI leader called on representatives of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to condemn Maryam Nawaz’s remarks and support the province’s population. He warned that otherwise, residents of the region may politically boycott those whom they believe disrespect their sacrifices and suffering.
Qaiser also said that PTI founder Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and other party members are being politically persecuted. He demanded their immediate release and said that the September 27 march should become a peaceful struggle for the supremacy of the constitution, the rule of law, democracy, fundamental rights, and the release of political prisoners.
