Pakistan registers case over killing of Ahmadi community member
Pakistan police have registered a case over the killing of an Ahmadi community member in Mandi Bahauddin district of Punjab province. It was opened against unidentified assailants on the complaint of the deceased’s son, Dawn reports.
Legal classification of the case
The complaint was registered at the city police station. Provisions of Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism Act were also included in the case. Proceedings were initiated under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on punishment for murder, Section 34 on acts by several persons with common intention, and Section 7 of the anti-terrorism law.
Details of the attack
According to the case materials, the attack took place on Wednesday at 6:42 p.m. near Idgah Road. The crime scene is located about five furlongs northeast of the city police station.

The deceased’s son was caring for his mother-in-law at a hospital when an employee of his workshop called and said that his father had been shot and was lying near a motorcycle. When the complainant arrived at the scene, the man had already died.
The complaint states that the deceased rode a motorcycle every day from his workshop to a place of worship in the city to pray. The complainant told police that neither his father nor other family members had any enmity with anyone. He suggested that the attack may have been targeted and intended to spread fear and panic among members of the minority. Police have launched an investigation.
