In Perth, car falls into sinkhole after water main burst
In the Perth suburb of Canning Vale in Australia, a passenger car fell into a large sinkhole in the road after a water main burst. The incident also affected water supply to nearby homes.
Car gets stuck in sinkhole
As ABC News Australia reports, the sedan ended up in a large sinkhole in the middle of The Bridgeway, one of Canning Vale's key streets.
Water Corporation said the car became stuck at about 4:00 after driving through water that had flooded the road as a result of the water main burst. Crews arrived at the scene within 30 minutes and shut off the water main.

Impact on water supply and traffic
Water Corporation workers are currently removing the car from the sinkhole and repairing the water main. Water supply has been disrupted for about 10 nearby homes, and residents may notice a change in the colour of the water during repairs.
Traffic control has been put in place on The Bridgeway. Drivers have been asked to avoid the area while repair work continues.
