A gasoline shortage has emerged in the Moscow region, and lines have formed at gas stations following drone strikes

A gasoline shortage has emerged in the Moscow region, and lines have formed at gas stations following drone strikes

Residents of several districts in the Moscow Region of the aggressor country have reported serious disruptions in the supply of automotive gasoline, long lines at gas stations, and a sharp reduction in the variety of fuels available.

The crisis in the region’s fuel market erupted immediately after successful attacks by Ukrainian drones on the strategic Moscow oil refinery.

Panic among drivers led to the immediate disappearance of the most popular fuel brands from large retail chains.

Private vehicle owners tried to buy up the remaining petroleum products en masse out of fear of a prolonged shortage.

Russian local authorities are trying to downplay the scale of the fuel crisis, but the situation at gas stations clearly demonstrates the consequences of a successful strike on industrial infrastructure.

Testimonies from local residents indicate that the crisis has affected a large number of settlements around the Russian capital.

In particular, a resident of the city of Serpukhov reported that on the evening of June 18, only diesel was available to drivers at Teboil gas stations.

At the same time, at gas stations operated by the state-owned corporation Gazpromneft, only premium AI-100 and diesel fuel remained on sale.

Gasoline remained available at small and independent gas stations, but private operators immediately raised its price to about a quarter higher than the usual level.

At Rosneft stations, fuel was sold at standard prices for a while, which immediately led to huge lines of vehicles forming there.

Another resident of the Moscow region confirmed that at a number of gas stations in the area, popular brands of gasoline were completely out of stock, or there was a sharp speculative rise in prices.

According to him, the situation began to stabilize somewhat the next day around noon, as large chain gas stations, under pressure from regulators, returned retail prices to their usual levels.

However, at independent and small gas stations, fuel prices remained noticeably inflated.

The source also emphasized that in the first few hours after official reports of the attack on the Moscow refinery emerged, there was utter chaos at gas stations.
