The prosecutor's office in Gdańsk, Poland, has opened a criminal investigation into a false report of a fire in the apartment of the family of Polish President Karol Nawrocki.
This was reported by Mariusz Duszinski, a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office.
According to the investigation, on May 23, an unknown person used the Alarm 112 app to notify emergency services of a fire and a threat to the life of a minor child in the Nawrocki family’s home.
After an inspection, it turned out that the call was a hoax—only pets were present in the apartment.
Polish law enforcement is searching for the person who sent the false report. Such a crime carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison in the country.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called President Karol Navrotsky’s intention to draft a new constitution for the country a “political game” and a “frivolous initiative.” The head of government made this statement during the European Political Community summit in Yerevan.
In Poland, authorities are investigating a false emergency call to the home of President Karol Nawrocki’s family; a possible foreign connection cannot be ruled out.
