Poland is investigating death threats against Tusk
The district prosecutor’s office in the Polish city of Kłodzko has launched a criminal investigation into death threats against Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk that were posted online.
According to Prosecutor Malgorzata Czajkowska of the district prosecutor’s office in Świdnica, an unidentified individual posted comments online containing insults and threats directed at the head of the Polish government.
During the investigation, police identified the address from which the posts were published and subsequently conducted a search of the residence.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized electronic equipment and other physical evidence.
A firearm magazine containing three “Parabellum” caliber cartridges was also discovered during the search. The ammunition was sent for forensic analysis.
The prosecutor’s office reported that the suspect’s identity has already been established, but investigators do not yet have definitive confirmation that he was the one who posted the threats online.
“The suspect has been identified, but we are not yet certain who exactly posted this content online,” said Prosecutor Malgorzata Czajkowska.
The pretrial investigation is currently ongoing, and the prosecutor’s office is not disclosing any further details of the case.
Under Polish law, criminal threats and insulting a constitutional body of state authority can result in a sentence of up to two years in prison.
If the forensic examination confirms the illegal possession of ammunition, the maximum sentence could increase to eight years in prison.

On May 21, a new 60-day extension of temporary restrictions on filing applications for international protection at the border with Belarus took effect in Poland. These restrictions limit the right of migrants to file applications for international protection while crossing the Polish-Belarusian border. The country’s authorities have once again extended these measures.
