A massive fire has broken out at a tire recycling plant in Poland
A large-scale fire is raging at a facility that recycles used car tires in northern Poland.
This was reported by RMF24.
The incident occurred in the town of Rozental near Gdańsk. According to rescue workers, the fire broke out around 5:00 p.m. on Friday near a machine used for shredding tires and pellets. The fire then spread to a warehouse where thousands of tires were stored.
Over a hundred firefighters are involved in extinguishing the fire. A spokesperson for the regional fire and rescue service said the situation remains difficult.

“The fire is not yet under control. The operation is ongoing; we are focused on containing the spread of the flames,” he noted.
Special equipment has been deployed to extinguish the blaze, allowing for the removal of burning tires and the containment of fire pockets. A drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera is also being used to identify burning areas.
Rescue workers warn that thick toxic smoke is visible from a great distance. Residents of nearby areas are advised not to go outside and to keep their windows closed, although no serious threat to the public has been reported so far.
As a reminder, on April 8, 2026, in Rio de Janeiro, a fire engulfed the Olympic Velodrome, where the Junior and Cadet World Fencing Championships are currently taking place.
