Vandals damaged a monument to the UPA in Poland
In the Polish village of Białystok, located in the Hrubieszów County of the Lublin Voivodeship, unknown individuals vandalized a monument to the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Polish police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and searching for those involved in the vandalism.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday, September 6. The perpetrators damaged the inscriptions on the stone obelisk.
The stone monument honoring 41 UPA fighters who died in battle against the NKVD in February 1946 was damaged.
Police emphasized that the investigation is focusing on “the desecration of the monument and the burial site of Ukrainian soldiers, as well as the incitement of interethnic hostility and property damage.”
It is noted that this monument has been vandalized on multiple occasions—most recently last month, when the Ukrainian Embassy responded to the incident.
