In Poland, the government announced that in 2027 it plans to raise the remuneration of public-sector employees, including teachers, by 3%. As RMF24 reports, the average monthly salary of a beginning teacher is expected to amount to 7,078 zlotys gross. The base salary without allowances for this category is projected at 5,467 zlotys gross.
Projected base rates
For teachers with a master’s degree and teaching qualifications, the base rate in 2027 is expected to amount to 5,467 zlotys gross for a beginning teacher. For the next category of professional advancement, it is projected at 5,633 zlotys, and for the highest category, at 6,589 zlotys gross.
Compared with 2026, this would mean increases of 159, 164, and 192 zlotys respectively. Last year, the base rates for these three categories were 5,308, 5,469, and 6,397 zlotys gross. The final amount of payments may be higher, as it also depends on length of service, qualifications, and allowances.

Inflation forecasts
According to government forecasts, inflation in Poland in 2027 will amount to 2.5%, while nominal growth in the average wage in the economy will be 5.6%. RMF24 notes that at such rates, teachers’ salaries will grow more slowly than average incomes in the country.
Trade unions consider the proposed increase insufficient to curb the outflow of teaching staff and attract young specialists. The ZNP calls for real changes and higher pay.
Separately, RMF24 reports that since the beginning of 2026, the minimum base salary of a professor at a public higher education institution has increased to 9,650 zlotys gross per month. The minimum rate for the position of a higher education institution professor is 8,009.50 zlotys, for an adjunct professor it is 7,044.50 zlotys, and for other positions it is at least 4,825 zlotys gross.
