The abduction and militarization of Ukrainian children by Russia were discussed in Prague
A panel discussion on Russia’s abduction and militarization of Ukrainian children took place in Prague on March 30, during which participants emphasized the need to increase international pressure to secure their return.
The event took place at the Ukrainian Advisory Center and was organized by the youth organization Generation for Ukraine with the support of the Ukrainian Embassy in the Czech Republic, according to the Ukrainian Embassy in the Czech Republic.
During the discussion, participants were shown a documentary film and factual materials which, according to the organizers, demonstrate the systematic nature of Russia’s crimes against Ukrainian children.
Vasyl Zvarych, Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic, emphasized that such actions constitute a gross violation of international law. He noted that over 20,000 cases of child abduction have already been documented, while approximately 1.6 million children remain under Russian control in the occupied territories or following deportation.
The event was attended by international experts, including analyst Pavel Havlíček, lawyer Kateryna Rashevska, and professor of international law Veronika Bilkova. The Argentine Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Claudio Javier Rosenzweig, also joined the discussion, as Argentina is a member of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.

Participants emphasized that the return of deported children must be a key condition for achieving a just peace.
Earlier, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova on suspicion of the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.
