Puerto Vallarta and Nayarit celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day
In Mexico, events for Independence Day are continuing in Puerto Vallarta and the state of Nayarit. The program includes public ceremonies, charro parades, mariachi performances, concerts, fireworks and the traditional Grito de Independencia, Mexico News Daily reports.
Program in Puerto Vallarta
Official celebrations in Puerto Vallarta are scheduled for September 13–16. The main venues are Plaza de Armas, the Malecón promenade and the city center.
On September 14, the traditional charro parade took place in the city. It started on Ignacio L. Vallarta Street, passed along the Malecón promenade and ended near the Ley store in the Cinco de Diciembre neighborhood.
On September 15, following a morning city council session, an evening program is scheduled at Plaza de Armas featuring DJ Zuar, batucada performers, pre-Hispanic dancers, Ballet Folklórico Cuauhtémoc and Mariachi Internacional Real de América. Grupo Caché is set to perform at 21:30, while the Grito de Independencia is scheduled for 23:00. This is to be followed by a fireworks display over the Malecón, and Banda Vallejo will perform at midnight.

On September 16, the program includes a public ceremony at 08:00 at Plaza de Armas and a civil-military parade at 09:00. Its route will generally repeat that of the charro parade.
Events in Nayarit
In the municipality of Bahía de Banderas, celebrations are centered in Valle de Banderas. On the evening of September 15, a Noche Mexicana will be held there with the traditional Grito, led by Mayor Israel Santillán. The concert program includes Mariachi Internacional de México, Banda La Taberna “La Más Guapa” and Banda Arkangel R-15. A civil-military parade is scheduled for September 16.
In the state capital of Tepic, ceremonies to raise and lower the Mexican flag, the México Vivo, Nayarit Eterno artistic program, and the distribution of 7,000 free servings of food and drinks are planned for September 15. At 23:00, Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero is to conduct the Grito de Independencia, followed by a musical fireworks display and performances by Banda Ráfaga and the band La Session. The following day, Tepic will host a traditional parade, and at 17:00 Marimba Orquesta Águilas de Chiapas will perform at Plaza Benito Juárez in front of the Casa de Gobierno building.
