A criminal case has been opened in Russia against Slepakov over the foreign agent designation

In Russia, a criminal case has been opened against comedian and producer Semyon Slepakov under a charge of allegedly failing to fulfill his obligations as a “foreign agent.”

This was reported by the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the agency, Slepakov was brought to administrative liability twice over the course of the year for publishing materials without a “foreign agent” designation.

The prosecutor’s office claims that this was the basis for opening criminal proceedings following an investigation.

Earlier, in February, the agency had already announced that it had forwarded materials to investigative authorities to initiate a case.

In the Russian Federation, the formation of a harsh police system has been completed, where special services have gained unlimited access to citizens’ finances, means of communication, and private lives.

As a reminder, the Russian Federation has tightened restrictions on access to Telegram and other messaging apps.
