Russia has issued a warrant for the arrest of comedian Semyon Slepakov

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has concluded its investigation into the criminal case against Russian comedian Semyon Slepakov. He has been charged in absentia, placed on the wanted list, and ordered to be held in custody as a preventive measure.

According to the Russian investigation, Slepakov, who has the status of a “foreign agent,” was brought to administrative liability twice within a year for violating the rules governing the activities of “foreign agents.” After that, according to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, he allegedly continued to post content on social media without the required labeling.

The agency stated that the comedian was charged in absentia under the article on evading the obligations stipulated by Russian legislation regarding “foreign agents.” The criminal case has now been referred to court.
