A new Project 12700 minesweeper has been laid down in Russia

A keel-laying ceremony for the latest Project 12700 “Alexandrit” vessel took place at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.

The new naval minesweeper has been named “Dmitry Glukhov” and will be the 16th ship of this class. Such vessels are designed to detect explosive objects in the water and on the seabed without entering dangerous areas.

This is reported by Russian media.

Project 12700 was developed by the Almaz Design Bureau for the Russian Navy.

The ship belongs to the "new generation" of mine-sweeping forces and is designed to combat sea mines. It can detect munitions both in the water and on the seabed without entering the danger zone.

Earlier, in August 2025, the fifteenth Project 12700 ship—the Leonid Balyakin—was laid down at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard.

According to open-source data, the Project 12700 minesweeper has a displacement of 890 tons, with a length of 61.6 m and a beam of 10.3 m.

It is equipped with one 30-mm AK-306 anti-aircraft gun. The ship is also designed to carry portable anti-aircraft missile systems and mine-torpedo armament.
