In Switzerland, an unknown assailant attacked people with a knife at a train station; there are injuries
A knife attack occurred at a train station in the Swiss city of Winterthur, near Zurich. Three people were injured in the attack, and the suspect has already been detained by police.
The Swiss police reported this on Thursday, according to Reuters.
According to law enforcement, the incident occurred on May 28 at around 8:30 a.m. local time. The attacker was identified as a 31-year-old Swiss citizen.
Police reported that all three victims sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital. Information regarding their condition has not yet been disclosed.
A large-scale police operation was launched at the scene following the attack. Law enforcement officers cordoned off the station area, and traffic in the vicinity was temporarily restricted.
The Swiss publication Blick released information citing eyewitnesses and video footage from the scene. According to witnesses, the man ran out of the station lobby shouting, “Allahu Akbar.”
One eyewitness said the attacker was holding a knife, while people around him fled in panic and screamed.
Swiss law enforcement is currently continuing its investigation and trying to determine the attacker’s motives.
Police have not yet indicated whether they are considering the possibility of a terrorist act, but note that all circumstances of the incident are being thoroughly investigated.
Earlier in Makhachkala, an armed attack occurred right inside a hospital, where a man with a knife burst into the emergency room and wounded several medical staff. Three doctors were injured; one is in intensive care in serious condition, and another is in stable condition. The attacker was detained at the scene, and the police have already opened a criminal investigation.
In Bukovina, a violent and dangerous altercation broke out while a man was being escorted to a mobilization center, during which two servicemen sustained stab wounds. The incident ended with the attacker’s arrest, and the victims received prompt medical attention; their condition is currently stable.
