Three protesters against the G7 summit were arrested in Switzerland
In Geneva, three people were temporarily detained following Sunday’s protest against the G7 summit, and more than 20 other demonstrators were arrested. A police operation to isolate radical groups sparked outrage among activists, while authorities reported minor damage to infrastructure, broken windows, and one car set on fire.
According to preliminary data from law enforcement, a total of 28 people were detained, including nine women and 19 men. In total, between 20,000 and 30,000 people took part in the march, and acts of vandalism were committed by about 600 masked “black bloc” activists who infiltrated the procession. The “No G7” coalition and the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland criticized the police’s actions for detaining hundreds of peaceful participants for extended periods to check their documents, using tear gas, and subjecting people to inadequate conditions while they were held at the border.
