In Sweden, charges have been formally filed against a diplomat who was detained last year. He is suspected of mishandling classified information. Law enforcement authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the case.

On April 24, a Swedish diplomat, whose name and position have not been disclosed, was formally charged with the unlawful handling of classified information relating to national security, specifically for taking such documents home and to a summer vacation home.
Prosecutor Mats Lönqvist noted that the information in question is highly classified, to which the diplomat had access by virtue of his position, but was not authorized to take with him or keep at home.
The diplomat is over 60 years old and is reported to have worked for many years within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was detained in May 2025.
