Russian spy exposed in Sweden, also implicated in a murder plot — SVT
The Swedish Prosecutor's Office has charged a 34-year-old man with attempted espionage on behalf of Russia.
In addition, he is also a suspect in a case involving conspiracy to commit murder.
According to the investigation, the man previously served in the Swedish armed forces. During his service, he had access to highly classified information that could be of significant interest to foreign intelligence services.
Investigators have established that in 2025, the suspect traveled to Moscow. There, he met with representatives of Russian intelligence and security agencies.
At the same time, law enforcement officials have not yet disclosed details regarding the nature of the contacts or the information that may have been of interest to the Russian side.
Prosecutor Mats Ljungkvist emphasized that he cannot currently provide additional information about the progress of the investigation.
According to him, “There are circumstances related to the investigation that compel me to refrain from further comments on this case.”
At the same time, law enforcement agencies are continuing a preliminary investigation into a possible conspiracy to commit murder. In this case, the same man is also a suspect.
