Trial of former police officer begins in Sydney — ABC News Australia
The trial of former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, accused of murdering Jesse Baird and Luke Davies in 2024, is beginning in Sydney, Australia. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic violence-related murder and aggravated break and enter, ABC News Australia reports.
Prosecution’s case
Lamarre-Condon, now 31, is alleged to have shot Baird and Davies with his service weapon in February 2024. According to the prosecution, this happened at a house in the Paddington area of eastern Sydney, which Baird shared with other residents.
The alleged break and enter offence also occurred at the same house in August of the previous year. Lamarre-Condon was charged several days after New South Wales police appealed to the public for help in locating the pair. Baird and Davies were last seen at a pre-Mardi Gras party.

Expected duration of the trial
The week after their disappearance, Baird’s and Davies’ bodies were found in the rural area of Bungonia, about 200 kilometres southwest of Sydney’s central business district. They were discovered in surf bags.
Baird worked as a television presenter at Channel Ten, while Davies was a Qantas flight attendant. The case is being heard by Justice Natalie Adams at the King Street courts in Sydney. The trial is expected to last about three months, with jurors set to hear dozens of witnesses. The court must first complete the selection of the jury, after which prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC will deliver the opening address.
