In eastern Spain, more than 300 firefighters are battling a wildfire
In the municipality of Tirig, in the province of Castellón in eastern Spain, more than 300 firefighters and 21 aircraft have been deployed to fight a wildfire. Since it broke out on Friday, the fire has engulfed 810 hectares, according to Euronews.
Firefighters worked through the night trying to contain the blaze. To prevent it from spreading, they combined direct firefighting efforts with controlled burns.

Footage released shows firefighters setting brush on fire to create firebreaks near the flames. Overnight, they managed to make some progress in fighting the fire.
At the same time, authorities warned that thunderstorms forecast for the afternoon could be accompanied by strong gusts of wind. The fire broke out amid an intense heat wave that has swept across much of Europe, contributing to major wildfires and prolonged drought.
