A fire broke out at an ammunition manufacturing plant in Slovakia

A fire broke out in the Slovak city of Snina at the production facility of ZVS Holding, a company that specializes in the manufacture of ammunition for tanks, artillery, and missile systems.

The fire was discovered around 12:00 p.m. on the roof of a building where an outside contractor was performing repair work. A cloud of thick black smoke formed above the facility and was visible from various parts of the city.

All employees were evacuated. According to preliminary reports, no one was injured. The fire was brought under control in about two hours, but emergency responders continued to work at the scene.

Due to the incident, production at the damaged facility was temporarily halted. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are currently being determined.

City authorities urged residents to stay away from the fire site and to temporarily limit their time outdoors.
