A passenger train derailed in Slovakia after colliding with a truck — Aktuality
A major train accident involving a passenger train and a truck occurred in southwestern Slovakia.
This was reported by Aktuality.
The tragedy occurred on the morning of April 16 near the town of Dunajská Streda, located not far from Bratislava, resulting in one fatality and a halt to traffic on a strategic rail line.
The incident was recorded after 9 a.m. at an unguarded railroad crossing.
A regional passenger train crashed at high speed into a truck that, for unknown reasons, had ended up on the tracks directly in front of the moving train.
The powerful impact caused the front cars of the train to derail, and the truck was virtually crushed.

A significant spill of diesel fuel from the truck’s fuel tanks occurred at the accident site, creating an additional risk of fire and environmental damage.
Unfortunately, the truck driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene before emergency responders arrived.
Twenty-one train passengers were injured—they sustained injuries of varying severity, primarily contusions and fractures.
Medical services promptly provided assistance to the victims, some of whom were hospitalized in Dunajská Streda and Bratislava.
Rescue workers continue to work at the crash site, attempting to contain the fuel leak.
Currently, traffic on this section of the railway is completely blocked. Railway officials note that the time required to fully resolve the situation and restore service is currently unknown, as the tracks need to be inspected for structural integrity.
