An official advisor to the Ukrainian Ombudsman has begun human rights advocacy work in Slovenia
Ross Fedorov, an official advisor to the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, has begun his public service in the Republic of Slovenia.
The human rights activist officially announced this on his Facebook page.
In this role, he will directly coordinate a wide range of issues related to the protection of the legitimate interests and rights of Ukrainian citizens currently residing in that country.
In his new role, Fedorov will focus on providing initial guidance to Ukrainians regarding mechanisms for protecting their rights in Slovenia.
He will be responsible for recording and systematizing information about potential violations of the law, as well as monitoring common problems faced by his compatriots.
In addition, the advisor will actively promote effective communication between citizens, the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine, as well as Slovenian human rights, civil society, and government institutions.
The Commissioner’s representative plans to pay particular attention to the legal aspects of temporary protection for refugees.
His daily monitoring will include issues related to ensuring access to quality education, medical care, and adequate social support.
He will also monitor issues related to housing allocation, legal employment, the protection of children’s rights, and the prevention of any discrimination against Ukrainians.
“For me, this is a great honor and, at the same time, a great responsibility, especially given that many Ukrainian citizens who are abroad due to the war need support, legal guidance, and proper protection of their rights,” he wrote.
