In the US, IAC calls for Macklemore to be removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour
The Israeli-American Council (IAC) has launched a petition calling on Ed Sheeran and his management to remove rapper Macklemore from the remaining US dates of the tour. As The Jerusalem Post reports, the appeal emerged after the musician performed as the opening act for Sheeran’s concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Macklemore’s performance
According to the publication, Macklemore called for “Free Palestine” from the stage and accused Israel of genocide in Gaza. He performed wearing a keffiyeh draped over his shoulders and sang “Hind’s Hall.”
During the number, stadium screens showed footage from Gaza, pro-Palestinian encampments and other political messages. StopAntisemitism, which published a video of the performance on the social network X, said that Jewish concertgoers should not be subjected to such propaganda.

IAC’s position
The IAC, which says it represents more than 150,000 Israeli Americans, stressed that an Ed Sheeran concert is not a political rally, protest or activist event. The organization said it does not dispute Macklemore’s right to political views, but considers the use of a concert stage to promote a one-sided political agenda problematic.
The council also said that “Hind’s Hall” was written in support of the student protest movement. According to the IAC, the song’s title is connected to Hamilton Hall at Columbia University, which protesters renamed Hind’s Hall after entering and occupying the building. The IAC called for clear boundaries regarding political statements from concert tour stages and demanded action from Live Nation.
