One in five service members in Poland’s Territorial Defense Force is a woman
One in five service members of Poland’s Territorial Defense Forces is a woman. Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarniecka, Poland’s Deputy Minister of National Defense, made this statement during a ceremony to present the battle flag to the 18th Warsaw Territorial Defense Brigade.
According to her, the role of women in territorial defense units is constantly growing. “Already, one in five service members in this unit is a woman. Thank you for your courage, for your willingness to serve side by side, and, if necessary, to give your lives,” said Sobkowiak-Czarniecka.

The deputy minister also assured that women serving in the Polish Armed Forces can count on the support of the Ministry of National Defense. She added that the government continues to invest in equipping the Polish military.
According to Sobkowiak-Czarniecka, thousands of helmets, body armor, and drones have been purchased as part of the SAFE funding mechanism. The ceremony to present the battle flag to the 18th Warsaw Brigade took place at Castle Square in Warsaw. Polish President Karol Nawrocki presented the unit’s symbol.
