Plans are underway in Washington to build a 76-meter-tall “Trump Arch”
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled plans to build a 76-meter-tall triumphal arch in Washington. The proposal has already been submitted to the Commission of Fine Arts, which is set to review it next week.
Trump announced this on Truth Social.
“I am pleased to announce that today my administration officially submitted a presentation and plans to the prestigious Commission of Fine Arts for the construction of the greatest and most beautiful Triumphal Arch in the entire world,” Trump wrote.
As the BBC notes, the structure has been named the “Trump Arch” and, according to the design, could exceed the height of the U.S. Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial.
The rendering of the arch features a golden inscription reading “One Nation Under God,” two eagle figures and a winged Statue of Liberty, as well as lion sculptures at the base.
The White House stated that the arch is intended to become a key feature of the area near Arlington National Cemetery.
“The arch will enhance the experience of visitors to Arlington National Cemetery — veterans, families of the fallen, and all Americans — and will serve as a visual reminder of the noble sacrifices made by so many American heroes throughout our 250-year history so that we can enjoy our freedoms today,” said White House spokesperson Davis Ingle.
At the same time, the question of funding for the project remains unresolved. Earlier, Trump suggested that some of the funds could be allocated from the remaining budget for the construction of the ballroom.
Trump himself noted that he was inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and the new structure is intended to greet those entering Washington from the direction of Arlington National Cemetery via the Memorial Bridge.
The initiative is part of the administration’s broader approach to reimagining the capital’s symbolic appearance, particularly through projects aimed at commemorating historical and political symbols in the urban landscape.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the State Dining Room, for which the historic East Wing of the White House was demolished, is scheduled to be completed in about a year and a half.
The White House has set a condition for discussing the peace plan with Europeans.
Recall that French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the U.S. “peace plan” for Ukraine requires further refinement and coordination with European partners.
Marco Rubio also stated that the “peace plan” for Ukraine is based on proposals from Russia and Ukraine.
