Victoria police officer charged with assaulting teenager — ABC News Australia
In the Australian city of Ballarat, Victoria’s Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) has charged a police officer with common assault of a teenager. ABC News reports.
Operation Loch investigation
According to IBAC, the case was investigated as part of Operation Loch. It concerned the use of force by a police officer during the arrest in Ballarat last October of a person who was under 18 at the time.

The commission alleges that the detective senior constable unlawfully punched and kicked the teenager several times after the arrest. According to IBAC, the teenager was handcuffed and was not resisting at the time.
Court hearing
The officer is expected to appear before the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court next month. Victoria Police has not yet commented: ABC News contacted the agency for a response.
