Government forces report intense fighting with Houthis in western Yemen
According to Anadolu Agency, Yemen’s National Resistance Forces, which support the country’s government, reported intense fighting with the Houthis in the south of Hodeidah province. This is a strategically important province on the Red Sea coast in western Yemen.
Advance toward Mount Dabbas
According to a statement by the National Resistance Forces, circulated by their December 2 News Agency on Thursday evening, the clashes took place amid an attempt by the Houthis to advance toward Mount Dabbas in southern Hodeidah.
The events occurred during a military escalation in western Yemen. On Thursday, the confrontation between government forces and the Houthis included ground clashes as well as attacks using ballistic missiles and drones.

Resumption of hostilities
Since the beginning of July, fighting has resumed in several provinces of Yemen, including Marib in the central part of the country, Al-Jawf in the north, as well as Al-Dhale and Taiz. A relative period of calm in the country had lasted since April 2022, following a prolonged war between government forces backed by a Saudi Arabia-led coalition and the Houthis.
The Houthis seized control of the capital, Sanaa, and significant parts of the country in 2014. Since the end of 2023, after the start of the war in Gaza, they have become increasingly involved in the regional confrontation, attacking Israel and commercial shipping in the Red Sea. The resumption of fighting has raised concerns about the return of a large-scale conflict in Yemen.
