Ukraine has reached an agreement to manufacture drones and weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Finland
Ukraine and Finland have agreed to jointly produce weapons and military equipment for both our own needs and those of our European partners. As part of this cooperation, the countries will manufacture drones, develop unmanned maritime systems, and launch a company to produce ground-based robotic systems.
This was reported on the website of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The relevant memorandums of cooperation were signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Finnish President Alexander Stubb during a roundtable discussion on defense cooperation.
Zelenskyy thanked Alexander Stubb, his team, Commander of the Finnish Defense Forces Janne Jaakkola, and representatives of seven Finnish companies who visited Ukraine on National Flag Day and on the eve of Independence Day. These companies are Boomeranger, Insta, Patria, Nokia, Nest AI, Sensofusion, and ICEYE.
“You have been with us from the very beginning of this war. And now that our military and defense sectors have grown, we can cooperate; we have launched joint production, and we have more than just agreements and paperwork—we have real tools and we’re already seeing real results,” Zelenskyy said.
As a reminder, Ukrainian drone manufacturer Airlogix and Finnish company Innokas previously signed a memorandum of understanding to establish production facilities in Finland for the manufacture of Ukrainian UAVs.
An explosion occurred at the Kaukopea plant in Finland, located near the border with Russia. The incident took place around 2:00 a.m.; there were no casualties.
Finland cannot transfer interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems to Ukraine, as this could jeopardize its own combat readiness in the area of air defense.
