Ukraine is ready to send its experts to Finland in response to the drone incidents
Kyiv has officially announced its readiness to send a team of experts to Finland to share its unique combat experience in countering drones.
This initiative came in response to recent incidents involving unknown aircraft violating Finnish airspace near the border with Russia.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced this proposal during a meeting with his Finnish counterpart, Elina Valtonen, in Brussels.
The parties discussed in detail the technical aspects of border protection and measures that could strengthen the security of NATO’s northern flank.
“Regarding the recent drone incidents, I confirmed that Ukraine is ready to send a group of experts to Finland to share its experience and help ensure airspace security,” the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
The problem of unauthorized drone flights has become particularly acute for Helsinki recently.
Just in early May 2026, another case of a UAV intrusion into the country’s airspace near the Russian border was recorded, forcing the Finnish Air Force to scramble fighter jets and impose temporary restrictions on civilian aviation flights.
Ukrainian experts possess the world’s most extensive practical experience in detecting, identifying, and neutralizing drones under complex electronic warfare conditions.
The cooperation involves exchanging data on drone tactics and deploying mobile interception teams, which have proven effective in Ukraine.
In addition to airspace security issues, the diplomats discussed Ukraine’s progress on the path to the European Union.
Andriy Sibiga emphasized the importance of opening the first negotiation clusters as soon as possible, which is a critical stage of integration.
