Ukraine to receive $5 Billion worth of weapons under PURL programme by Year-End

Ukraine may receive a total of $5 billion in military aid under the PURL programme by the end of the year, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced, according to El Pais.

This decision underscores the significant role of the United States in supplying Ukrainian forces with heavy weapons at a critical time. According to Rutte, Ukraine is expected to receive approximately $1 billion in military aid per month.

Rutte emphasized that continued support for Ukraine is crucial to protecting civilians and infrastructure as the country faces ongoing Russian attacks.

He also highlighted the importance not only of the PURL programme but also of initiatives from other European countries, including the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Denmark, which are facilitating the purchase of weapons for Ukraine. This support enables Ukraine to actively conduct combat operations and counter threats from Russia.

So far, six NATO countries have financed four defense support packages for Ukraine totaling more than $2 billionunder the PURL initiative.

In addition, Germany will allocate €150 million to the programme, while Warsaw plans to provide significant financial assistance to Kyiv for the purchase of American-made military equipment.
