Ukrainian consuls are awaiting access to Dmytro Karchuk, who is being held in Poland
Ukrainian consuls are awaiting permission to visit Dmytro Karchuk, director of the CEO Club Ukraine business community, who was detained in Przemyśl, Poland. The Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin urgently contacted the relevant local authorities after receiving information from the Polish prosecutor’s office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported in response to a request from “European Truth.”
The ministry noted that the Ukrainian side’s request is being processed. “The Ukrainian side expects consuls to be granted access as soon as possible. The matter is being monitored by the ministry,” the Foreign Ministry stated.

Karchuk was detained on July 28 at the “Budomezh” border crossing. German authorities were searching for him on the basis of a European arrest warrant for the alleged theft of 171 electric bicycles. According to investigators, in 2024, the detainee allegedly used forged transport documents and posed as an employee of a transport company. The value of the bicycles is estimated at over 126,000 euros.
Serhiy Haidachuk, founder and president of CEO Club Ukraine, stated that Karchuk is being held in a pretrial detention center in Przemyśl, and the case may be related to document fraud. According to him, Karchuk’s personal data may have been used by criminals to receive the shipment and subsequently sell the goods. Haidachuk also claims that at the time of the alleged crime, Karchuk was in Ukraine, undergoing rehabilitation after knee surgery and using crutches. He added that Karchuk is suspected of personally driving the truck, even though he does not hold a driver’s license for the appropriate category.
