Ukrainian military trounced NATO in Sweden – AP
During NATO exercises in Sweden, Ukrainian military personnel demonstrated the effective use of drones by simulating the "destruction" of enemy forces. Participants in the exercises emphasized that modern drone technology is significantly changing the approach to conducting military operations.
This is reported in an AP article.
A group of Ukrainian drone pilots, invited to train Western military personnel in winning battles with drones, “destroyed” Swedish troops during the exercises, who served as the aggressor’s simulated target.
A 24-year-old drone pilot with the call sign Tarik shared details of the exercises with AP.
“They paused the exercises three times so the troops could figure out what to do better, but if this were real life, they’d already be dead,” the soldier said.
Swedish troops have potential, but they need to improve their drones and tactics, and commanders need a deeper understanding of combat operations using drones, according to another pilot with the call sign Karat.
He described flying small strike drones with a first-person view on the front lines against Russian troops. According to him, drone pilots are sometimes supported by reconnaissance drone groups, but sometimes they “work blindly.”
The soldier added that Western forces cannot understand how this happens and need to see it with their own eyes.
According to Sweden’s Defense Minister Michael Klasson, all Western forces need to “quickly learn” how to conduct operations using drones and counter them, and the “fastest” way is to listen to the Ukrainians.
As a reminder, Britain and its northern allies are conducting large-scale military exercises in Norway, simulating scenarios of a possible escalation of aggression by Russia.
In Lithuania, military medics underwent training for the first time with the participation of the Ukrainian organization TacMed Ukraine.
