107 motorcyclists rode through the Bojangles Saloon pub in Alice Springs, Australia, attempting to set a new world record for the number of motorcycles ridden through an establishment. Participants had planned to take 125 bikes through the pub, but 107 took part in the ride, ABC News Australia reports.
Attempt during a festival
The ride took place as part of Red CentreNATS, a festival in the Northern Territory dedicated to cars and motorcycles. Dozens of car and motorcycle events are scheduled here over four days. Red CentreNATS is a sister festival to Canberra's Summernats.
The motorcyclists rode through the pub premises, filling them with engine noise and exhaust fumes. Dozens of people watched the ride from behind barriers. The convoy was led by David Walsh, this year's winner of the Finke Desert Race motorcycle race, known as the King of the Desert.

Organizers want to try again
Red CentreNATS representative Laura Johnson said that despite the unsuccessful attempt to set a world record, the ride itself was a success for the festival. She expressed confidence that organizers would be able to surpass the result next year.
Participant Harley Hall, who came to Alice Springs from South Australia with his family, also said that he plans to return to the festival next year and bring in more motorcyclists. Bojangles Saloon owner Pearl Randhai said she was pleased that Red CentreNATS was being held in the city and that, in her words, everything went well. The event raised funds for the Butterfly Connection organization, which helps residents of central Australia travel to other states for medical treatment.
