On the evening of July 20, a fire broke out at Arthur’s Seat—one of Edinburgh’s most famous natural landmarks—in the Scottish capital.
According to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), a report of a fire in an open area was received at 6:38 p.m.
Rescue crews arrived promptly at the scene and are continuing to fight the fire. Four fire trucks have been deployed to extinguish the blaze.
This is the second fire on Arthur’s Seat in the last three months. In May, firefighters extinguished a large wildfire involving dry grass in Holirud Park, located near the hill. Then, as now, there were no reports of injuries.

As a reminder, a large-scale forest fire in the Fontainebleau Forest near Paris led to the evacuation of residents and the closure of a major highway.
In Norway, a major fire engulfed a residential area in the municipality of Drammen. The fire destroyed more than 50 homes, and authorities evacuated several hundred people due to the danger. Rescue workers continue to battle the flames. There are currently no reports of fatalities, though one firefighter sustained minor injuries.
In Brussels, a major fire broke out at a construction site located in the city’s central square, resulting in fatalities, and the search for those missing is ongoing.
