Cargo vessel attacked near Iran's Qeshm Island: one killed
A cargo vessel was attacked near Iran's Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday morning. One person was killed and four others were injured, France 24 reports, citing Iranian state media.
The governor of Qeshm, quoted by the state-run IRNA agency, blamed the attack on a “terrorist enemy.” The US military did not immediately comment on the incident. US President Donald Trump, when asked by journalists about possible US involvement in the strike, declined to answer.
Report of a fire aboard the vessel
The British United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center reported the same day that an unidentified projectile struck a vessel while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz. According to its information, a major fire broke out aboard, and local authorities evacuated people. At the same time, the monitor did not specify whether this report concerned the vessel whose attack was reported by Iran.

Qeshm Island is located about 22 kilometers from the port city of Bandar Abbas and is important to Iran's efforts to control the Strait of Hormuz. Commercial shipping traffic in the strait remains low amid the attacks, according to France 24.
Talks in Oman postponed
Iran planned to hold a meeting of foreign ministers from regional countries in Oman on Monday. They were expected to discuss Iranian and Omani efforts to manage shipping in the strait. However, Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said on social media platform X that the talks had been postponed “in the interest of consensus.”
Iranian diplomat Mohammad Ali Bak told IRNA that Iran and Oman agreed to the postponement at the request of some countries in the region. An unnamed official from one of the Gulf countries said Saudi Arabia had submitted amendments to the Iranian-Omani agreement over concerns about its possible long-term consequences for other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
