Italy searches for Canadian skyrunner Kaylee McCrystal on the Matterhorn
A search operation has begun on the Italian side of the Matterhorn for Canadian skyrunner Kaylee McCrystal, who has been considered missing since September 1. The athlete was preparing to set a new mountain running record: to ascend and descend the mountain in less than five hours.
Last photo at altitude
McCrystal's last trace is a photograph published on Tuesday. It shows the athlete above the Jean-Antoine Carrel refuge at an altitude of nearly 4,000 metres.

In the photo, McCrystal is wearing light clothing — shorts and a jacket — and carrying a trail-running backpack. Rescuers explained that her white clothing complicates the search for the athlete.
Search by helicopter
On Thursday, rescuers searched for McCrystal using a helicopter. The search operation was reported by ANSA English.
