Italy has denied receiving a warning from the CIA about an attack by Russia

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto called a report by the Spanish newspaper *El Mundo*—alleging that the CIA had warned of possible Russian attacks using ships and drones against Spain, France, and Italy—groundless.

According to the official, the alarm raised in the media has no factual basis and only adds fuel to the fire during these tense times.

Earlier, the Spanish newspaper claimed that these allegations were contained in a detailed report compiled following CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s visit to Moscow.

In Italy, Lia Quartapelle, a member of parliament from the opposition center-left Democratic Party, called on the government to immediately clarify a report by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo stating that Russia—an aggressor state — may be preparing drone attacks from the sea against Italy, France, and Spain.

The publication reported that Russia is preparing for possible attacks on Southern European countries using “Gerbera” drones, which could be launched from ships in the “shadow fleet” in the Mediterranean Sea. The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency became aware of these plans and subsequently informed the governments of European countries.
