Israel is investigating the suspected theft of three M16 rifles from the Shayetet 13 unit. The incident was reported by The Jerusalem Post.
Report of the incident
According to the publication, N12 News reported on Thursday morning that an Israel Defense Forces, or IDF, servicemember stole three M16 rifles from Shayetet 13 during the night from Wednesday to Thursday.

The IDF confirmed the launch of an investigation. The military said it considers any cases of weapons theft serious and is acting jointly with Israel Police to prevent such incidents.
Joint investigation
The investigation is being jointly conducted by the military police criminal investigation unit and Israel Police. Once the investigation is completed, its findings are to be submitted to the Military Advocate General's Corps for review, the Israeli military said.
