A pro-Iranian group planning attacks on officials has been exposed in Israel

The police and the General Security Service (Shin Bet) have uncovered a large-scale plot aimed at assassinating high-ranking government officials. The central figure in the case is 22-year-old Haifa resident Ami Haidarov, who has been in contact with Iranian intelligence since last August.

According to the investigation, the suspect set up a secret laboratory in a rented apartment to manufacture and test explosives. This was reported by the Israeli police press service, writes newsru.co.il.

The terrorist group’s likely target was former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. Although Haidarov did not name the politician directly, law enforcement identified the target of the assassination attempt by tracking the suspect’s movements. In addition to planning the assassination, the group was engaged in espionage: the perpetrators photographed strategic sites, including the Port of Haifa, and documented the impact sites of rockets during recent attacks. For carrying out Tehran’s orders, Haidarov received approximately 70,000 shekels, most of which was paid in cryptocurrency.

Security services emphasize that this case is extremely dangerous, as Iranian intelligence has, for the first time, succeeded in advancing recruited Israeli citizens from the information-gathering stage to the production of explosives. Along with Haidarov, four accomplices were detained who assisted with logistics and the preparation of terrorist attacks. Against the backdrop of global activity by Russian and Iranian intelligence agencies aimed at destabilizing democratic countries, this incident confirms the intensification of hybrid warfare tactics. Court records indicate that the detainees face life imprisonment under charges of treason and terrorism. Currently, the Shin Bet is continuing its investigation to identify other possible cells involved in the Iranian network. Israeli authorities have urged citizens to be vigilant regarding suspicious online job offers, which may turn out to be traps set by foreign intelligence services. The situation in Haifa remains under close surveillance by security forces.

Israel has sharply criticized the truce between the U.S. and Iran, although Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially endorsed the agreement.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that direct negotiations with Iran could take place “very soon.” He also expects that peace talks could be held in Pakistan.
