In Israel, defense seeks to halt dissemination of accused woman's video — Jerusalem Post
In Israel, the Office of the Public Defender has filed an urgent request with the Tel Aviv District Court to order the Israel Prison Service to stop further publication of video recordings featuring 19-year-old Agam Tsarafi. She is accused of murdering her former boyfriend, Benayahu Razi, the Jerusalem Post reports.
The request was filed after a video emerged showing Tsarafi in shackles and bent over as she was escorted through the facility by masked prison service staff. Public defender Roy Politi said the publication humiliates the accused, who has not yet been convicted, could harm her right to a fair trial and, in his view, violates her privacy. The court has not yet ruled on the request.
Charges in the case
According to the prosecution, 19-year-old Razi was fatally stabbed in an apartment in Jerusalem in July. Investigators claim that Tsarafi and Shilat Huta helped organize the attack after an argument, which, according to the prosecution’s version, was carried out by four minors. Tsarafi, Huta and the four minors have been charged with premeditated murder.

Linor Sasson, the mother of one of the minors, is accused of aiding after murder and obstructing the investigation. The defense requested additional time to respond to the charges, citing the substantial volume of evidence and materials it is still expecting to receive.
Complaints about detention conditions
Politi also challenged Tsarafi’s detention conditions. According to him, she is being held separately from other detainees, without visits and most phone calls until October 1, when these conditions are to be reviewed. The defender also said that Tsarafi was transferred to another facility and is being held alone in a cell with cockroaches and mice.
Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir defended the prison service’s actions. He claimed that Tsarafi had violated order and behaved badly toward other inmates and staff, and that her transfer to the Abu Kabir facility was carried out in accordance with the law. The next hearing in the criminal case was scheduled for November 12.
