In Novosibirsk, employees are being switched to remote work due to the fuel crisis

The government of the Novosibirsk Region of the Russian Federation, where a state of heightened readiness has been in effect since July 8 due to a fuel shortage, has recommended that employers switch their employees to remote work and reduce fuel consumption.

According to the document, all organizations not involved in sectors critical to public welfare are advised to:

  • switch employees to remote work;
  • minimize fuel consumption;
  • reduce fuel consumption without disrupting social and economic processes.

“To recommend that organizations, regardless of ownership structure, that are not involved in ensuring the public’s livelihood, switch employees to remote work and reduce fuel consumption in order to lower fuel usage without disrupting social and economic processes or violating legal requirements,” the resolution states.

It is noted that these recommendations will remain in effect until the state of heightened readiness is lifted.

Regional authorities also urged residents to limit travel by private vehicle.

If travel by car is necessary, people are advised to ensure in advance that they have enough fuel for the round trip.

In late June, some gas stations in the Novosibirsk region temporarily suspended fuel sales to individuals.

Following the introduction of the heightened alert status, authorities also tightened fuel distribution limits.

Currently, the following amounts are permitted per vehicle:

  • up to 30 liters of gasoline;
  • up to 60 liters of diesel fuel.

Previously, less stringent limits were in place—40 liters of gasoline and 80 liters of diesel—and on highways, up to 200 liters of diesel fuel could be sold.

At the same time, priority refueling remains in effect at the “Gazprom Neft” gas station network for emergency services, municipal utilities, and public transportation.

On July 8, authorities in the Novosibirsk region declared a state of heightened readiness due to the fuel crisis.

On the same day, for the first time since the start of the full-scale war, a warning about the threat of drone attacks was issued in the region, after which the authorities announced the introduction of additional measures to conserve fuel resources.

The relevant recommendations are contained in a government decree signed by Konstantin Khalzov, acting governor of the Novosibirsk region.

Earlier, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin supported the idea of creating a network of small oil refineries in the country to increase fuel supplies to the domestic market.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy told Trump that Moscow is not a suitable venue for negotiations due to the danger posed by drones.

Trump stated that the U.S. may allow Ukraine to manufacture missiles for the Patriot system.

Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Spain ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara, declaring his intention to sever trade relations and halt visits between the two countries.
