UAE citizens and residents invited to join 55th National Day celebrations
In the United Arab Emirates, citizens and residents of all seven emirates are invited to share their personal stories of life in the country to help prepare events for the 55th National Day. The holiday, officially known as Eid Al Etihad, is celebrated on December 2 in honor of the UAE's formation in 1971.
As The National reports, organizers will hold a series of creative workshops in September dedicated to the contribution of the country's multicultural society to its development. Participants will be able to speak about memorable events and personal experiences that organizers aim to use in this year's celebration program.
Meeting program
The workshops will include storytelling, crafts and other creative activities. According to Issa Alsubousi, director of strategy and creativity for the 55th Eid Al Etihad, these meetings are intended to give communities an opportunity to jointly shape the way the holiday is celebrated and present their own ideas.

The events will run from September 10 to 24. They will be held in Fujairah on September 10–11, Ras Al Khaimah on September 12, Sharjah on September 13, Ajman on September 14, Umm Al Quwain on September 15, Dubai on September 18–19, Al Ain on September 20–21, and Abu Dhabi on September 23–24.
Participant selection
Registration for the workshops is open until September 8. Organizers will review applications and select participants depending on the number of available places. The Eid Al Etihad team will inform selected candidates of the details, including the exact locations of the events.
The UAE National Day is dedicated to the unification of six emirates in 1971; Ras Al Khaimah became the seventh emirate the following year. Every year, the central event of the nationwide celebrations is a ceremonial event usually attended by the UAE's rulers.
