Russian authorities are searching for the "Sosnovka maniac," who fled after the war in Ukraine

In Russia's Leningrad Oblast, law enforcement officials are searching for serial killer Andriy Kiik, known as the "Sosnovsky Maniac," who fled after being wounded in the war against Ukraine.

This is reported by Russian media.

According to Russian media, Kiiko was previously sentenced to 25 years in a maximum-security prison for a series of attacks, rapes, and murders of women in Sosnovsky Forest Park in St. Petersburg. He is responsible for 15 victims, 12 of whom were women who survived.

Units of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the police are conducting a search for the fugitive in the Lomonosovsky District of the Leningrad Region.

According to journalists, in mid-2024, Kiiko enlisted to fight in the war against Ukraine directly from prison. At that time, he had about seven years left to serve.

In the fall of 2025, he escaped from a military hospital in Kronstadt, where he was undergoing rehabilitation after being wounded on the front lines.

At the same time, according to sources in Russian media, the Russian Ministry of Defense did not issue an official warrant for the arrest of 41-year-old Kiiko until May 2026.

“Until then, his escape had been concealed, and the police were the last to be notified,” sources told journalists.

Earlier, in Russia’s Altai Krai, a 22-year-old man who, according to media reports, had participated in the war against Ukraine, was detained on suspicion of the brutal murder of a 15-year-old teenager.
