Lithuania to purchase over 900 Finnish Patria armored vehicles — LRT
Lithuania has officially decided to purchase 936 Patria armored personnel carriers from the Finnish manufacturer to significantly strengthen its national defense.
President Gitanas Nausėda announced the large-scale defense order following a meeting of the country’s State Defense Council.
According to LRT, the Lithuanian army will receive a significant portion of this modern armored equipment within the next few years.
This procurement will be one of the largest modernization projects in the Baltic republic’s current security sector.
The final agreements provide for the phased delivery of equipment and long-term cooperation with Finnish partners. According to the Lithuanian leader, the first hundreds of combat vehicles will be delivered to units within clearly defined timeframes.
“By 2030, we plan to purchase 300 of these armored vehicles,” he noted.
An important condition of the future large-scale deal is the active involvement of the local military-industrial complex in the implementation of this contract.
