Russia has proposed funding Trump's Peace Council with $1 billion from frozen assets

Russia has proposed funding Trump's Peace Council with $1 billion from frozen assets

The fund established by U.S. President Donald Trump for the Peace Council currently remains empty and has not received a single dollar in funding. Against this backdrop, Russia has announced its readiness to provide funds to fill it.

The Financial Times reports on this.

The fund has failed to attract financial support, despite high-profile announcements about its creation. Meanwhile, Moscow has stated that it is ready to allocate a significant sum for its needs.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reported that as early as January 21, 2026, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin allegedly proposed allocating $1 billion from Russian assets frozen in the U.S.

According to Zakharova, the funds were to be used for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and basic social infrastructure.

“Russia offered specific funds and outlined its priorities: the funds are to be used for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and basic social infrastructure,” she stated.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also claims that Moscow sent a note to the U.S. State Department but has not received any official response from the American side.

So far, Washington has not commented on the Russian side’s statements regarding possible funding for the fund and the future of Trump’s initiative.

As a reminder, the Peace Council, established by U.S. President Donald Trump to oversee the post-war reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, has yet to receive the promised funding four months after its launch.
