There is talk in Hungary of a possible exit from the EU: the opposition is accusing Orbán
Péter Magyar, leader of the Hungarian opposition party Tisza, stated that Hungary could leave the European Union if the ruling Fidesz party wins the election.
This was stated by Péter Magyar.
According to Magyar, the leadership of “Fidesz,” headed by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, is allegedly considering the possibility of a coalition with the “Our Homeland” party. He believes that such an alliance could lead to the country’s withdrawal from the European Union.
The opposition figure emphasized that the “Our Homeland” party has long advocated for Hungary’s exit from the EU, and, in his opinion, “Fidesz” is moving in the same direction.
“The stakes in the April 12 parliamentary elections are enormous. This will also be a referendum on whether our country will remain a member of the European Union, or whether Fidesz and ‘Our Homeland’ will finally turn Hungary into a puppet state of Russia,” Magyar stated.
At the same time, opinion polls indicate growing support for the opposition. Specifically, according to a Median survey, 58% of decided voters are ready to support the Tisa party, while 35% support Fidesz.
Parliamentary elections in Hungary are scheduled for April 12 and could pose a serious political challenge for Viktor Orbán during his 16 years in power.
Additionally, according to The Washington Post, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service has allegedly developed a plan titled “Game Changer,” aimed at bolstering Orbán’s approval ratings amid economic difficulties and a decline in his popularity.
As a reminder, Hungarian Minister of Agriculture István Nagy has officially appealed to European commissioners to suspend protective tariffs on fertilizer imports from Russia and Belarus.
