The Israeli government has assured that it has no territorial ambitions in Lebanon — The Times of Israel
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the state has no territorial claims on Lebanon, but that the IDF will remain in its current positions until Hezbollah is completely disarmed.
According to the official, Israeli forces will not retreat “even a millimeter” until key security conditions are met.
This approach was coordinated with American partners and officially enshrined in the military annex to the framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
During a recent meeting with U.S. Central Command Admiral Brad Cooper, the parties confirmed that Israeli forces will not leave three strategic security zones—in Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip.
The minister expressed skepticism about the Lebanese army’s ability to confront militants on its own, noting that he does not believe it will “suddenly turn into lions that will attack Hezbollah.”
That is why the IDF’s presence in the region will be long-term.
